When She Was Bad by Tammy Cohen Book Review

Amira, Sarah, Paula, Ewan, and Charlie had worked together for years. They know each other good and bad habits after their old boss is fired and replaced by a new, tougher one slowly, the team starts to fall apart and weird things start to happen to them.

There is a side story of Ann where the book opens up with her watching the BBC News at home in America, where a horrible crime had been committed. This takes Anna back in time when she was Ph.D. student in university focusing on the long-term effects of trauma in children, where she was assigned to assist on the child L into the case “the house of horrors” this side story ties everything together nicely and by the end of the book, everything starts to make sense.

The main story of the office is relatable as we all deal with bullshit we have to deal with at work and the bullocking we get from our boss and colleagues. Rachel was a bitch and a nightmare, she reminded me of an old boss I had, that sparked quite pleasant memories.

I wish I can say more but I don’t want to spoil it. This is a dark read and by the end, when the murder happens and how it is done, is what makes this a disturbing read.

A fair warning it is not for the faint heart.

Happy writing and reading.
